Overview

This 3-day safari combines incredible wildlife encounters with an enriching cultural experience. You will explore Tarangire National Park, home to large elephant herds and ancient baobab trees, visit Lake Eyasi to interact with the Hadzabe and Datoga tribes, and descend into the Ngorongoro Crater, a wildlife haven teeming with the Big Five. The journey ends with a transfer back to Arusha Airport (ARK) or Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO).

DAY BY DAY ITINERARY

Day 1: Arusha to Tarangire National Park – The Land of Giants

Your safari adventure begins with an early morning departure from Arusha. After a 2-hour drive, you’ll arrive at Tarangire National Park, one of Tanzania’s most spectacular parks. The park is famous for its massive elephant herds, iconic baobab trees, and diverse wildlife, including lions, leopards, cheetahs, giraffes, and wildebeests. You will enjoy a game drive, following wildlife along the Tarangire River, a permanent water source that attracts animals year-round. A picnic lunch will be served at a scenic spot inside the park, allowing you to relax while surrounded by nature. After more wildlife viewing in the afternoon, you will head to Karatu for an overnight stay at a comfortable midrange lodge..

Day 2: Lake Eyasi Cultural Experience – Meet the Hadzabe & Datoga Tribes

Wake up early and drive to Lake Eyasi, a remote and less-visited region home to the Hadzabe and Datoga tribes. The Hadzabe Tribe: One of the last remaining hunter-gatherer tribes in Africa, the Hadzabe people still live traditionally, relying on hunting and gathering for survival. You will join them on a hunting expedition, witnessing their impressive skills with bows and arrows. They will also demonstrate their fire-making techniques and share insights into their unique way of life. The Datoga Tribe: The Datoga are skilled blacksmiths, using traditional methods to create weapons, jewelry, and household tools. You will visit a blacksmith workshop, where they craft tools from melted-down metal, and learn about their semi-nomadic lifestyle.

Day 3: Ngorongoro Crater Safari – The Ultimate Wildlife Experience

After an early breakfast, drive to Ngorongoro Conservation Area and descend 600 meters into the world-famous Ngorongoro Crater. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is one of Africa’s most breathtaking natural wonders, home to an incredible concentration of wildlife. Inside the crater, you have the chance to see the Big Five, including the rare black rhino, alongside hippos, zebras, wildebeests, jackals, and flocks of flamingos at Lake Magadi. Your experienced guide will take you to the best spots for wildlife viewing, ensuring you make the most of your time. Enjoy a picnic lunch near the Hippo Pool while watching these massive creatures wallow in the water. In the afternoon, you will ascend from the crater and begin your drive back to Arusha.
